Indie porn rules

Friday, March 31st, 2006

The inaugural party for Kink.com (the company formerly known as CyberNet) featured a taste of a new behind-the-scenes reality porn site called BehindKink.com. Every episode is the tale of a kinky webmaster and some models making great porn — plus bloopers and funny asides and a glimpse of the daily porno grind (“Now we have to spend several hours cleaning up,” FuckingMachines.com webmaster Tomcat says wryly after a particularly intense shoot). The sense you get watching it is that these are a bunch of nice professionals who are really good at jacking girls off on camera. What’s not to love? Plus, the site is only $4.50 a month.

The Kink.com soiree, held in the company’s mind-bogglingly massive downtown San Francisco film studio, was studded with West Coast indie porno queer glitterati (I’m so glad we have our own glitterati now!). ErosZine’s Thomas Roche rubbed shoulders with Fleshbot’s Jackson West; lovely Waterbondage.com model Bobbi Starr sashayed past FuckingMachine.com’s Tomcat in the “medieval castle” room. Everybody was sad that Violet Blue didn’t show up, but luckily the extremely fetching Kingsley Joseph entertained me all evening long.

Feeling Everybody Up

Today in my column, I talk about a weird new application called MoodGrapher that maps the moods of LiveJournalers over time. Surprise: charts show a huge spike in drunkenness and horniness on Friday and Saturday.

At last I have a new website design complete with an RSS feed, which is what I hear all those wacky folks out there on the interwebs are doing. Many thanks to the intrepid Scott David Herman for the excellent website design, and thanks to Chris Palmer and Elly Millican for helping me understand WordPress. I’ll be using this blog to post the latest news on my whereabouts, my publications, and generally what I’m doing. Subscribe to my feed, or come back regularly to find out more.
